If you’re a makeup enthusiast, you already know that lipstick is one of the most versatile cosmetics around.
Beyond just color for your lips, lipstick can be a powerful tool for highlighting, contouring, and even creating a subtle dewy look. Don’t be fooled by its small size – a tube of lipstick can have many uses!
Here are 6 of the most unique ways to use lipstick to transform your makeup routine and enhance your beauty, from eyeshadow to nail tinting.
Each of these hacks is easy to incorporate into your beauty routine, and can help you get the most out of your favorite colors of lipstick.
Get ready to take your makeup game to the next level!
By ‘lipstick’, I am specifically referring to the ‘classic’ bullet form and generally hydrating formula. You can give your liquid lipstick a go as well, but it won’t work as well as a classic bullet lipstick in this scenario!
I know this is the most obvious one, but it can be often overlooked!
Using your fingers (or even a brush) to apply a light layer of lipstick on your lids is definitely a unique way to use that formula, and can easily double up your eyeshadow collection.
You can dab some translucent powder on top of it as well, to prevent it from breaking up. On the other hand, you can also use a similarly-colored shade!
Again, a pretty obvious one – but fun, nonetheless!
I feel like this one is another overlooked use of lipstick, especially for the summer.
You can apply it as you would a regular liquid/stick/cream blush, but you don’t really have to set it with a powder. I would recommend dabbing a light veil of translucent powder on it either way, just to make sure it will last longer!
This is a bit of tricky one, because you need a super specific shade for each. Allow me to elaborate a bit on that!
You’ll need a warm-toned lipstick for a bronzer, and a cool-toned one for a contour. It might be easier to just go for the bronzer!
Again, you’ll need kind of a specific shade for this one – one that matches your eyebrows quite closely, as well!
Personally, I don’t mind a strong brow (I kind of have strong brows myself, so…), but if you want to be safe, make sure to pick a color that’s 1-2 shades lighter than your eyebrows.
Blending some of your lipstick along with a bit of Vaseline is a great recipe for a custom lip balm!
The shade will be slightly diluted, so you won’t get a super strong finish, but it’s a nice wash of color for those barely-there looks.
Alright, we’re closing this post with a pretty unconventional tip, but I do believe it’s a pretty fun one to use!
After you have applied your base coat (either clear or colored), apply a thin veil of lipstick on top of it with a brush and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, seal it with a clear top coat.
It will give your nails a distinctive and innovative finish!
