It’s been a hot minute ever since I posted my DIY Eyeshadow Primer recipe; sure, I have brought other interesting DIY Makeup crafts on the blog, but not eyeshadow-related.
This DIY cream eyeshadow is a very interesting formulation, but also a fairly easy one to craft; you probably already have all the ingredients you need at home!
So, are you ready to find out how to make your own cream eyeshadow?
Let’s get started!
Before jumping into the crafting part, let’s quickly talk about the lotion.
Eyeshadows go directly into the eye area (as the name suggests), which is a very sensitive part of the face – and the entire body as well! You want to make sure the lotion you’re using is suited not only for the face, but for your entire face as well; why not look for something marketed for more sensitive skin types? This will give you a safer base to work with.
Moreover, you want your base to be fairly thick and solid; we’re making a cream eyeshadow, not a liquid one! It would be ideal if the lotion you select was thicker in consistency; it will create the best texture and finish on the eye.
The first thing you want to do is choose your powder eyeshadow; you could also pick two or three, and create interesting color combinations!
Once you have them in front of you, put a piece of paper on your work surface and grind them into a fine loose powder using a knife. Make sure not to hurt yourself, and ask somebody to help you if necessary!
As soon as you are happy with the shadow consistency, set the powder aside.
At this point, you want to take the container you selected (something small will be the best choice) and fill it up almost completely with the lotion. You may want to take your time with this step, so just proceed with caution.
Once your lotion is ready, it’s time to add the crushed eyeshadow powder into it. Again, take your time and do this slowly to avoid a big mess!
You want to mix the two ingredients to perfection, so keep stirring the solution for a couple of minutes.
As soon as you see the lotion and the powder are completely blended and have become one, you know your DIY cream eyeshadow is all ready to go!
