I wanted to end this week off with one of my most favorites DIYs of maybe all time. As you may or may not know, I have a slight obsession with DIY skincare products, but recently I also started giving haircare a lot more attention.
I love when products double up for face and body or face and hair, which is what makes this DIY rose oil even better.
You’ll absolutely adore it if you have a drier type of complexion/hair, but you’ll also love it if you want to prevent and fight acne and minor imperfections, as well as add some much needed glow to your aura.
The crafting process is quite easy but unfortunately fairly long, which is why I would suggest you to gather up some patience before jumping straight into it.
Anyway, let’s get started!

Before jumping into the crafting part, let’s talk a little bit about the base of the product: the oil.
I decided to give you creative control because this is a completely customizable recipe: you can pick whichever base you like!
Olive oil is a pretty common ingredient in most kitchens, so you could easily pick that one up, but Almond oil and Jojoba oil are also pretty common to come by – and pretty inexpensive!
When it comes to rose petals, you still have all the creative control you want. You’ll be fine picking whichever rose you like, but if you want the final product to be more fragrant I would definitely recommend wild roses!
Ok, let’s get down to it. Put the rose petals in a clean and empty jar, and add your carrier oil. If anybody wants to know, I used Jojoba oil since it suits my combo/oily skin and hair type better.
Before closing the lid as tightly as I can, I stirred the mixture up a bit. Then, once I closed the jar, I let the liquid infuse for 2 weeks under a towel in the darkest corner of my kitchen. 2 weeks feel like a lifetime, I get it, but this product is truly worth it.
Who doesn’t have small, minor imperfections on their skin? This DIY rose oil will help you smooth and even your skintone, as well as add some brightness and glow to it.
Rose have natural anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties, making them one of the most effective organic ingredients when it comes to fighting acne and scars.
When it comes to application on skin, I actually have two favorite methods. In the morning, when I firstly put moisturizer on before proceeding with my makeup routine, I like to mix my moisturizer with very few drops of rose oil. At night, on the other hand, I use a few drops before proceeding with my night moisturizer.
Sometimes I just use the oil, if I feel like it.
Much like acne breakouts, hair problems are not only extremely annoying, but also quite unexpected at times. Having this little DIY rose oil may be of considerable help, especially if one of those accidents happens while you’re travelling.
If you want your hair to be soft and shiny, rose oil will be your new #1 choice.
Moreover, this oil will help you preventing frizz (nobody’s friend) and hair growth in general!
Much like with the moisturizer from before, I have two different application methods for you. Either add it to your shampoo and/or conditioner, or use it as a proper oil after a wash.
I usually add it to the shampoo in my hand, and make sure the quantity is fairly low. It’s also a great moisturizer and helps untangling hair when mixed with conditioner.
However, my favorite way is actually to use it as a oil right after a wash. With towel-dried hair I use a few drops, massage it in with my fingers, then brush and blow-dry. Pretty quick and efficient!
