Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with buying product from the store: this is just a fun alternative.
So, are you ready to find out what’s so amazing about this DIY Hair Cream – and how to make it yourself?
Let’s get crafting!
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s see what’s so good about these ingredients.
Besides being a delicious beverage, Coconut Milk offers quite a few benefits for your hair, like keeping it strong and healthy – and your scalp as well. It also has moisturizing properties, and can help fight itchiness, dry scalp and dandruff.
Coconut Oil, similarly to Coconut Milk, also provides a whole lot of moisture to both hair and scalp, and can contribute to the health of both. Moreover, it will keep the hair shiny and perfectly conditioned.
Cornstarch is a bit of a wildcard here, since it’s certainly not a very popular haircare (or skincare, for that matter) ingredient. Fear not, though: this powder is only here to help us thicken up the Coconut Milk.
Lastly, I just wanted to spend a couple of words on Vitamin E Oil. This ingredient is an optional one, however I truly recommend to throw it into the mixture since it will prevent it from going bad.
The first thing you want to do is pour the coconut milk into a pan and slowly starting to heat it up. Since this step is a bit of a dangerous one, it’s better to proceed with extreme caution and maybe asking for somebody to help you out.
Now that your milk is almost at a boiling point, reduce the heat to minimum.
Put a tablespoon of cornstarch in a small bowl, and add a tablespoon of milk into it. Stir the two together until they’re perfectly smooth and combined, and then add the mixture back into the milk. Repeat the process with the other tablespoon of cornstarch.
Keep stirring the milk so that it will thicken up quickly, and add the melted coconut oil as well. Mixing is key here, and you need to keep going until the milk has successfully thickened up. It will be a bit annoying, but it shouldn’t take too long.
Once you’re done, let the mixture cool down completely. Then, bring your electric beater out and whisk it until it’s fluffy and looks delicious (I mean, you could eat it… but why, though?).
All you have to do now is put it into your container.
And your DIY Supreme Hair Coconut Whipped Hair Cream is all ready to go!
