I recently posted a recipe for a blend for curly hair, and I ended up being pretty pleased with how that product turned out; it was the perfect ‘soft’ solution, not too heavy and yet quite effective.
However, even if I have 2A textured hair, I thought people with more luxurious would want/need something that was not only a tiny bit more practical, but also higher-impact; something like a hair cream!
I thought about a formula that could work either on dry or wet hair, before and after blow-drying it; this cream is quite easy to make, and you probably already have what you’ll need at home!
So, are you ready to make your own hair cream for curly hair?
Let’s get started!
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and their benefits for your hair.
Jojoba oil is a wonderful oil for moisturizing hair and scalp without leaving a heavy feeling behind, and without being too greasy. This oil is actually a lot lighter than most used for haircare, making it perfect to valorize the curls, providing moisture and bounce without weighting it down.
Lavender esential oil is an amazing natural ingredient when it comes to promoting hair growth and health. This oil helps providing moisture and shine to the hair, all the while killing lice and making sure the scalp stays nice and healthy.
Ylang Ylang essential oil is a great ingredient if you want to improve your hair’s texture, especially your curls. Also, if your hair happens to dry out extremely fast, this oil will make sure it’s neatly hydrated and stays that way.
Rosemary essential oil has already been featured in my DIY Hair Thickening treatment, so you have a pretty clear idea what its benefits are. Other than thickening, however, this ingredient can help promote hair growth and nourish the scalp.
Lastly, Vitamin E Oil. This ingredient is here to make sure you can safely store the cream outside of the fridge without it going bad; you can easily omit it, but then you should always keep the mixture into the fridge and only take it out when you plan to use it.
The first thing you want to do is add all the ingredients to the Jojoba oil. You can give the mixture a good stir, but don’t feel like you need to be too diligent.
Now that you have all your ingredients together, it’s time to take your electric mixer out. This step is a little delicate, so feel free to ask somebody for help and always be careful!
You want to keep whipping everything until it reaches a fluffy texture, but looks firm nonetheless. It may take a few minutes, but I promise it will be all worth it in the end!
Once the consistency is there, all you have to do is pour the mixture into the container. And your DIY Hair Cream is all ready to go!
