Hey, pretty people!

It’s been a hot minute since I posted my last face serum recipe.

I have been trying and re-trying to bring something back on the blog, but I have been 100% satisfied with anything. That is, until I came up with this DIY Face Serum for Oily and Acne-Prone Skin!

The formula was pretty simple and effective, but I couldn’t help but think that I could do better than that, especially in terms of ingredients.

This recipe requires a total of 3 ingredients, and the best thing is that you’ll easily find all of them at the drugstore.

Ready to craft this serum?

Let’s get started!

YOU’LL NEED

  • 1 Oz. Jojoba Oil
  • 10 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
  • 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
  • An empty dropper bottle

Before proceeding, let’s do a quick run-down and talk about these ingredients for a little bit.

JOJOBA OIL

Jojoba oil, the base of our serum, is the best carrier oil for oily skin. Its texture is very similar to skin’s natural sebum. This makes it particularly good for oily complexions, since it provides hydration without leaving a greasy texture behind. Moreover, it’s perfect to fight acne and breakouts, as well as soothing more sensitive skin types.

TEA TREE ESSENTIAL OIL

Tea tree oil is probably one of the most common ingredients used to fight acne, but that’s not all it does! It’s an amazing addition to your serum if you aim at fighting texture and promote softer skin. Also, it’s great if you suffer from rosacea and irritated skin.

LAVENDER ESSENTIAL OIL

Lastly, lavender essential oil. Much like tea tree, this oil is great when it comes to fight acne, redness and general infections, all the while promoting softer and healthier skin.

OK, it’s finally time to get crafting!

I personally prefer to mix everything in a separate bowl and then add the formula to the bottle, but feel free to customize this method to your likings.

Start off by pouring Jojoba Oil in your bowl, and add your essential oils to it.

It’s really simple, but the key here is to keep mixing. Even when you feel like you’re done, give it a couple more stirs. In fact, an undermixed serum won’t work well at all!

Now that you have a perfectly smooth liquid, it’s time to pour it into the bottle.

And your face serum is all ready to go!

This formula is perfect for everyday usage, but I would suggest you to shake it slightly before using.

It will ensure all the ingredients are perfectly blended, and also make the serum more efficient.

♡  Thank you so much for reading! I hope we kept each other company for a while. Have a wonderful day! ♡
