Hey, pretty people!

As a self-proclaimed makeup collector, I often gaze upon said collection and curse myself because of how impulsive I used to be when it came to buying makeup up until a few years ago.

I have since mended my ways greatly, and only buy things that are absolutely necessary as of right now, which would be foundation, concealer and powder. But still, I have TONS of leftover products that I just don’t how to dispose of!

The main product I find hard to use is eyeshadow – more specifically, eyeshadow palettes.

I have quite a lot of them, and I have managed to actually hit pan on very few shades, with most of the color scheme being still quite intact. I usually try to use them to do some Face Charts, but sometimes it’s hard to see them all lined up and knowing that the last time I used that particular one was before the Pandemic.

If you’d like to know what a Face Chart actually is, you can click here for a review of the textbook guide, and here to see the templates I use!

One thing that you can do to get rid of some of your sparkly eyeshadow or highlighter is try to make this DIY Fairy Lip Gloss!

It’s actually insanely easy to craft, and will easily become a favorite of yours in no time.

Let’s get crafting!

YOU’LL NEED

  • A clear lip gloss;
  • A shimmery eyeshadow or highlighter of choice;
  • Something to break up your powder, like a plastic knife or a spoon;
  • A newspaper or something to put on your work surface to prevent it from getting dirty.

Before I leave to the crafting process, let me just give you a couple of advice I think you could benefit from when it comes to crafting the perfect DIY Fairy Lip Gloss.

PICKING THE GLOSS

Now, I am going to be honest with you: pick the cheapest one.

You’re going to essentially ‘make your own’ gloss, and picking an expensive one is just going to make you waste money – especially if it’s something that you’re not going to wear often. And you probably won’t because, let’s be real: it’s a fairy gloss!

THE SHIMMER POWDER

Whatever powder you picked, make sure it’s a sparkly, shimmer-y one!

If you want to go the full fairy route, make sure it’s a pastel-toned shimmer; on the other hand, if you want something stronger, you can go for rusty tones. In any case, for the full sparkle, pick something shimmer-y!

ALRIGHT, LET’S GET CRAFTING!

Firstly, you want to lay down your newspaper and make sure it covers (at least) most of the surface you’re going to work on. Make sure you open it up nice and big, so you won’t make a mess on your table!

Once that’s settled, it’s time to break a small amount of powder from your eyeshadow or highlighter, and grind it into the finest powder you possibly can. Now, it’s important you start off with smaller amounts so that you can add them little by little to your gloss, and see how you like the finish.

Take your time grinding the powder, you want it to be as fine as possible. This way, it’s going to be much easier combining it with the gloss.

As soon as you’re satisfied with how your sparkly element is looking, it’s time to add it to your clear gloss. Simply pour it into the gloss bottle.

Now, it’s time to mix it! DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT pump your gloss; do not pump your mascara either, while we’re at it! Simply insert the wand back in and swirl it into the bottle, going back and forth in circular motions. It’s going to take a little while, but I promise that this is much better than pumping air into your formula!

Once you see that the powder has pretty much disolved into the gloss, it’s time to test it out. If you added little powder and are not satisfied with the end result, you can always add more!
