Not too long ago I started working on a DIY Hair Mask for all Hair Types.
It seemed a pretty daunting task, but I have to say I am starting to make some sense out of it. I might even have already posted the recipe by now!
I think that the base of that mask caters to basically every hair type out there, which is why I wanted to work a little bit around it.
Specifically, I wanted to change up the essential oils I used. I tried to keep it fairly simple without loosing any effectiveness, and I feel like this new formula is a pretty good one!
So, are you ready to find out how to make your own hair mask to fight dandruff, improve hair strength and growth?
Let’s get started!
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s talk a little bit about these ingredients and why they work so well on your scalp.
Aloe Vera gelis one of the most versatile ingredients out there, and one of the few that will work perfectly on every hair/skin type. It will give your locks bounce and life, as well as keeping it healthy and shiny; also, it will improve growth and strength.
Coconut oil is definitely one of the most popular ingredients when it comes to haircare, and it’s a pretty versatile one as well. It will help moisturize the hair and keep it smooth, as well as adding shine to it.
Lemongrass essential oil is a fresh and fragrant ingredient, and will help the scalp fight dandruff. Moreover, it will improve a healthier growth and strengthen the hair. Remember that it has a strong and distinctive smell as well, though.
Lastly, eucalyptus essential oil. If lemongrass is fresh, this one is even better! It’s the perfect oil to improve blood circulation to the scalp, hence promoting a healthier hair growth. It also provides essential nutrients to the follicles, making the hair stronger.
The first thing you want to do is melt your coconut oil completely.
You want to work with a clear and smooth liquid, so make sure not to have any lumps hanging around. Also, this is the perfect time to add the essential oil drops.
Now that you have the perfect liquid, add it to the aloe vera gel and mix everything together for at least a couple of minutes.
The mixture has kind of a funny texture, and the ingredients will never be perfectly blended together. However, once you have something that ranges between a gel and a liquid, you’ll know you’re done.
I personally like to use a brush to help spread the formula thoroughly on both hair and scalp. Also, I leave it on for 20-30 minutes, then proceed with my regular shampoo and conditioner routine.
