Hey, pretty people!
Summer is almost here, and with that we have many more reasons to make ourselves look and feel like snacks, even if we can’t go around too much. But hey, even going grocery shopping is the perfect opportunity to serve looks!
Since the weather is warming up a bit here, I thought I would focus on something that is not only beneficial to our skin’s health, but can refresh us up a little, too.
A body scrub can offer us the best of both worlds!
This recipe is yet another Lush copycat, Magic Crystals’ to be exact. It is a super refreshing formula that will have your skin feeling brand new and awake, and features a few interesting ingredients like herbs-infused-water.
So, are you ready to find out how to make your own DIY Lush Magic Crystals Body Scrub?
Let’s get started!
YOU’LL NEED
- 1/2 cup of Epsom Salt
- 1/2 cup of Fine Sea Salt
- A little less than 1/2 cup of Rosemary, Sage and Mint Infused Water (keep reading for directions)
- 10 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil
- 10 drops of Spearmint Essential Oil
- 5 drops of Anise Essential Oil
- A bowl
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and a few of their benefits for your skin.
EPSOM SALT
Part of the exfoliating element of the Magic Crystals body scrub, Epsom Salt is the perfect ingredient to detox your skin with. It is packed with anti-inflammatory properties that can not only help relax the skin, but soothe irritation as well; also, it can help soften the skin and fight aging signs.
FINE SEA SALT
Even though it is another exfoliator, Fine Sea Salt is a much more effiecient one than Epsom Salt. It is particularly indicated for the dryer areas of the body, like knees and elbows, and also offers a great detoxifying effect. Moreover, just like Epsom Salt, it is full of anti-inflammatory properties.
PEPPERMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Peppermint Essential Oil plays a big role in refreshing and ‘waking up’ the skin, but has a few cleansing properties as well. Full of antibacteria and antiseptic properties, it is perfect to not only fight aging signs, but to reduce acne and razor bumps as well.
SPEARMINT ESSENTIAL OIL
Yet another quite refreshing ingredient, Spearmint Essential Oil is also a key element when it comes to cleanse the skin. It is wonderful when it comes to fight itchiness and irritations, as well as dryness; moreover, it is a nice disinfectant.
ANISE ESSENTIAL OIL
Anise Essential Oil is full of antiseptic properties that can make your skin feel and look healthier and brighter, fighting imperfections and stimulating circulartion. Fun fact: I did not have this essential oil at home, so I added the anise to the infused water. Feel free to do the same, you’ll still end up with amazing results!
ROSEMARY, SAGE AND MINT INFUSED WATER
I left Rosemary, Sage and Mint Infused Water last because I wanted to also give you a little tutorial on how to make it. This ingredient is obviously yet another refreshing part of the Magic Crystals body scrub, but that’s not it. These herbs will promote much healthier and tighter looking skin, and also have a nice, relaxing effect.
To craft it, you’ll need to fill a small pot with water and add a handful of each herb. Then, turn the heat up and let it reach an almost boiling point. Once you’re there, turn the heat off and allow the liquid to cool down completely. Lastly, strain it to eliminate all the herbs.
Alright, let’s get crafting!
Firstly, you want to make your infused water and allow it to cool down completely. I decided to add the essential oils’ drops in it as well, but feel free to do so whenever you want to.
Secondly, mix the Epsom Salt with the Fine Sea Salt, and add this mixture to the cold water.
Lastly, stir all the ingredients together for a couple of minutes.
And your DIY Lush Magic Crystals Body Scrub is all ready to go!

I made this and it smells amazing! My only problem was that after a few uses it hardened into one big piece. Does anyone have tips so that it doesn’t do that? Do you think I could add a little bit of oil to the recipe to prevent this?
Hey, thank you for trying this recipe out and sharing your experience!
I would suggest you to add a little bit of oil if you want to, and to pick whichever you feel comfortable using. I would really appreciate if you came back and update us on your experience as well, as it may help others trying to make this scrub.
Again, thank you so much for reading! 💕
I had the same problem, even after adding some coconut oil. How do I stop it from hardening
Hi, thank you so much for reading – and for trying out this recipe!
I personally didn’t face the same problem, but why don’t you swipe out coconut oil in favor of another oil, like almond? It might make a huge impact on the softness of the formula, and shouldn’t harden it! ♡
Do you have an idea of what I could add to make it that fun purple color without staining my skin?
Hey, thank you so much for reading!
That’s actually a pretty interesting question you asked there; in short, I really don’t have a proper answer – sorry!
You could try crushing a small amount of purple eyashadow into it – I believe that’s the quickest method, although I am afraid it will stain your skin… Let me know if you actually end up trying something!
