A little while ago I accidentaly stumbled upon a DIY aloe vera oil recipe on the internet.
The post did not have any measurement written on it, which kind of bugged me, but after a little research I found out that all I needed was a good amount of aloe vera gel and an equal quantity of my preferred carrier oil.
Since the idea of trying this DIY intrigued me way too much, I decided to get started on the spot. I quickly found that this recipe is highly customizable, which is always nice, and provides a whole lot of benefits for both your hair and skin.
So, are you ready to find out what’s the deal with this aloe vera oil?
Let’s get started!
Before talking about the benefits of the aloe vera oil, I just wanted to quickly clarify a couple of things.
I used coconut oil because it has amazing benefits for skin and hair, but also because I love how it works with aloe vera gel. However, I want you to know that you can use pretty much any carrier oil you prefer (click here for a quick guide)! In fact, next time I want to experiment using Almond Oil.
Also, don’t feel pressured in adding any essential oil to your mixture. I preferred not to since I was planning to use this oil in another DIY recipe later on, and the results were amazing.
Lastly, let’s quickly touch the aloe vera gel. I personally prefer to use a store-bought one, but feel free to use leaves if you have them! Remember to store it in the fridge, though, since they’ll expire more easily.
Now, what’s so amazing about this product? Well, it does pretty much everything you could ask for!
From acne-fighting, to providing moisture and glow, there really isn’t anything to prevent it to help you achieve your most perfect complexion. I personally prefer to use it as a serum before going to bed at night, but you could use it pretty much however you’d like.
If you want to use this product as part of your haircare routine, I 100% recommend checking out this incredible article by William Hartfield of Hairguard; I found it extremely interesting and informative, and it was reviewed by an actual professional! It is a complete guide on aloe vera for your haircare, and I definitely believe it to be one of the most complete ones you’ll find. Also, William is incredibly nice and so humble!
The first thing you want to do is mix the aloe vera gel with your carrier oil and the Vitamin E oil; if you’re using coconut oil like I did, remember to start mixing once the oil is completely melted! You could skip the Vitamin E oil part, but I don’t think you would want to; it’s key in preserving the shelf life of the product, and adds a few benefits as well!
Once the consistency of the mixture seems cohesive, it’s time to heat it up in a pot on the stove. Be careful while doing so, and ask someone to help you! I heat the components up for about 10 minutes on low heat; then, I left the mixture to cool down completely.
All you have to do now is add your essential oil drops and pour the oil into your chosen container. And you Aloe Vera Oil is all ready to go!
