Hey, pretty people!
I am not big on YouTube Shorts, I’ll be honest with you, but the other day I stumbled upon one that truly caught my eye.
Among all the ‘fun’ ones I was scrolling through, I ended up watching one that was talking about makeup; more specifically, about lip tints. Since makeup is one of my favorite topics, and I am currently obsessed with lip tints, I intently watched the whole thing. This is the Short in question, by the way!
This person has come up with an incredibly unique method to make your very own DIY Lip Tint, and I was just about fascinated by it!
Although quite amazing in it of itself, I thought there were a few points that needed to be clarified. What are the best formulas to use? How can you mix the shades together? How can you clean up the product and re-use it afterwards?
This article will shed light on all of those questions! I will share with you everything you need to know about this DIY Lip Tint, and how to make the most out of it every application.
So, are you finally ready to find out how to make your very own DIY Reusable Lip Tint?

YOU’LL NEED
- A cheap lip balm in stick form
- Literally any lipstick you want
- A lip brush (optional)
Before jumping straight into the tutorial, allow me to offer a few clarifications about these items and how you can make the most out of this whole experience.
Any lip balm will do the trick here, so don’t think twice about it. I have used one I picked up at the supermarket and it worked perfectly fine! I would recommend picking a cheap one though.
When it comes to lipsticks, you have full creative control – both color-wise and formulation-wise. Picking the same (or similar, at the very least) formulas will grant you a smoother finish, for sure; however, feel free to play around with different consistencies! The fun part of this project is experimenting, so go ahead and do that!
Lastly, allow me to briefly touch on the lip brush part. Personally, I think this tool is a great help when it comes to blending the colors together; however, it is totally optional. You can easily use your finger, or simply blend the shades directly on the lips. I believe this will help you achieve a cleaner look with a lot less work, but you do you!
Alright, let’s get crafting!
There really isn’t much to say about this crafting process, which means this DIY Reusable Lip Tint is insanely easy to create.
Firstly, pick all the colors and formulas you want to use for this project. I would recommend not going too overboard with them, since you can easily use too much formula and ruin the look. 5 should be your max, at least if you can’t guarantee a thin coating on the balm.
Once you have sorted your lipsticks out, pour the thinnest drop of them on the balm stick. You want to coat it extremely lightly, so that it won’t ruin your look and the shades will blend properly together.
If you want to, now is the time to use the lip brush. You can use it to blend all the shades together, or you can do it with your fingers, too.
As soon as you are satisfied with the color, it’s time to apply the stick to your lips. Go back and forth a while to ensure a perfect blending, and try to stay within the confines of your lips. Using a lip liner might be ideal!
And your DIY Reusable Lip Tint is all ready to go!
Lastly, on to the big question: how do I clean the balm stick?
You simply use some rubbing alcohol. This is also great when it comes to disinfecting your balm stick, too!
