It’s been a hot minute now ever since I first posted my original under-eye oil recipe, and I never really thought about bringing something different on the blog. I was recently brainstorming for new post ideas, and I decided to craft something new up.
Ever since I tried the ‘Gold Elixir’ rosehip seed oil by Revolution Skincare (review here), I found myself enjoying it more and more; I went back to my original eye serum and slightly edited that formula to make it just effective, but a little less troubling.
So, are you ready to find out what’s the deal with this under-eye oil?
Let’s get started!
Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and all their benefits for your skin.
Rosehip Oil, the base of the product, is the perfect moisturizing element for your under-eye area. It can help reduce discoloration as well as inflammation, and can brighten the complexion up. It can easily fade dark circles and make your under-eye area much smoother and hydrated.
Coffee Grounds are full of caffeic acid, which makes them the perfect ingredient to boost collagen production and promote healthier-looking skin. Moreover, they can tighten your skin and help fade dark circles.
Lavender Essential Oil is one of the most versatile ingredients in skincare, It can help soften and moisturize the skin, and promote a smoother and wrinkle-free under-eye area. It can help fade dark circles, and reduce puffiness as well.
Lastly, a quick word on Vitamin E Oil. This ingredient is here to prevent your under-eye oil from going bad. If you don’t plan on adding it, remember to store the product in your fridge.
Firstly, you want to pour the coffee grounds into the jar. Then, add the rosehip oil and let the two ingredients rest for at least 24 hours. Originally, I left the coffee ‘marinate’ into the almond oil for 5 days, but I figured only one day was going to be enough this time.
As soon as your 24 hours are up, it’s time to strain the oil and make sure the coffee grounds are completely removed. Also, they make for a good scrub, so think twice before throwing them away instantly!
Once you have your oil all nice and smooth, add the lavender oil drops and stir the two together for at least a couple of minutes. I know it’s really annoying, but mixing is truly a key step here, so take your time and go slow.
Lastly, pour the liquid into your container.
And your DIY Under-Eye Oil is all ready to go!
