Body scrubs are one of the most fun products when it comes to DIY skin care. They’re incredibly easy and cheap to craft, and they’re fully customizable.
You can make one for every craving you may have, and they’ll have you smelling like heaven with barely one use. And that’s exactly what this DIY Hot Cocoa body scrub will do!
This recipe is insanely easy to follow, with just 5 ingredients you can easily find in your kitchen. It’s perfect to hydrate your skin and make it all nice and smooth, and will create the perfect base if you decide to shave afterwards.
I decided to go up with the dosage so that you’ll have a bit more of it to use. However, feel free to customize the dose to your likings.
So, are you ready to find out how to make your own vanilla hot cocoa body scrub and smell like heaven?

Before jumping into the crafting process, let’s quickly talk about these ingredients and their benefits for your skin. I decided not to include brown sugar because it’s the base of the scrub – there really isn’t much to say about it.
Coconut Oil is an amazing moisturizing ingredient for your skin, the perfect addition here to prepare your skin for more moisturizer later. It is great to help you fight cellulite and imperfections (like acne), as well as hyperpigmentation and razor bumps. Also, it is a good ingredient to use either before or after shaving.
You may think Vanilla Extract is only here for an extra kick of flavor (which isn’t a lie), and I believe you’ll be surprised to hear that this ingredient also has a few tricks up its sleeve when it comes to skincare. This ingredient is full of antioxidant properties that not only help keep the skin nice, healthy and hydrated. Also, it has anti-aging properties that can also help smooth out annoying wrinkles.
Lastly, Cocoa Powder. I know it may seem crazy, but this is also an interesting ingredient when it comes to skincare. Besides being the delicious cinnamon hot cocoa base it is, it can help enhance your complexion and improve its elasticity. Also, it can exfoliate the skin and make it softer.
If you’re planning to make this recipe as a gift, it would be best to add 1 or 2 Vitamin E Oil tabs to your coconut oil. It may not seem like much, but they’ll actually prevent the product from going bad, and they’ll allow you to store it outside of the fridge freely. Also, why not put it in a cute jar while you’re at it?
The first thing you want to do is melt your coconut oil completely. Once you have a clear and smooth liquid, it would be a good idea to add those Vitamin E tabs we were talking about earlier.
While the oil is melting, mix together the sugar and the cocoa powder. Then, add the vanilla extract to the now liquid coconut oil and stir them together.
Lastly, add the liquid base to the powder one and mix everything together for a couple of minutes.
And your DIY hot cocoa body scrub is all ready to go!
