Dupe Alert: Fenty Beauty “Uncuffed” vs NYX Liquid Suede “Soft Spoken”

 

 

 

 

Fenty Beauty has been out and about for a little over a year now, and it’s still one of the most beloved brands of the makeup industry.

Most recently, the company has come out with new shades of their best-selling ‘Stunna Lip Paint’ previously only available in “Uncensored“; the lipstick currently comes in other 4 shades: “Uninvited” (smooth black), “Unbutton” (peachy nude), “Uncuffed” (rosy mauve) and “Unveil” (chocolate brown).

Today, we’re going to take a bit of a closer look at ‘Uncuffed‘ and compare it to ‘Soft Spoken‘ by NYX; is the Liquid Suede a dupe for the more expensive lipstick?

PACKAGING

Would you guess that both these bottles contain the same amount of product in them? I’m not sure I would.

Firstly, the packaging of the Stunna Lip Paint is much more curated and luxurious, coming in a sleek black cardboard container with glossy graffiti designs on the front. We can find the general specifics of the product printed in white all over, and also the name of the shade.

All in all, the actual bottle reminds me a lot of Louboutin’s nail polishes, and has a nice weight to it. Clear glass and mirror-like gold pair fairly well together, and will make this one of the most outstanding products in your collection; the name of the company is printed in grey on the cap, which is quite long but also allows you to get quite a good grip on it.

 

THE APPLICATOR

The applicator is very unique and does not compare to anything I have used so far when it comes to lipsticks. Its hourglass form guarantees a good application despite what you may think, and pick up enough formula making re-dipping unnecessary.

‘Soft Spoken‘, on the other hand, looks a lot different.

 

NYX LIQUID SUEDE

Just like I said in the past Dupe Alerts concerning the Liquid Suedes (I’ll link them all at the end of the post), this packaging looks quite cheap but overall pulled together. Firstly, the bottle is tall and made of hard plastic in the color of the lipstick, meaning you can’t actually see the inside; also, the writings are in black, and include the name of the brand and the product, and its general specifics.

Unlike the Stunna Lip Paint, the applicator is long and bends slightly; you have a good application and enough product to make re-dipping unecessary, once again.

 

 

 

PRODUCTS’ FORMULATIONS

Upon trying ‘Uncuffed’, I couldn’t help but compare its feeling and performance to the Liquid Suedes by NYX. The general claims of both products (matte finish, long-lasting and fluid lipstick) are also the same, which I believe is why I was drawn to this comparison.

Anyway, the two products share the following ingredients:

• Isododecane
• Dimethicone
• Trimethylsiloxysilicate
• Iron Oxides (CI 77499, CI 77492)
• Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891)
• Red 7 (CI 15850)

FINAL THOUGHTS

All in all, do I believe ‘Soft Spoken‘ to be a dupe for the Stunna Lip Paint ‘Uncuffed‘? I honestly do!

The formulations of these two products may not share the exact same ingredients, but the feeling on the lips and the color match are quite impressive!

I have been using and loving the Liquid Suede formula for years now, and I don’t think I am going to stop any time soon, but the performance of ‘Uncuffed‘ are absolutely mind-blowing! If you’re looking for a color and (somewhat) performance match, ‘Soft Spoken‘ will definitely have your back.

That being said, I just wanted to point out a little something. All in all, makeup is about personal favorites and experiences; I am in no way, shape or form telling you to ditch Fenty for NYX, nor will I ever! I am a proud supporter of both companies, and just wanted to give you an alternative to save some money.

In conclusion: support who you want, and spend your money how you want!
