Hey, pretty people!

I have already brought a few reviews of Focallure products, and I consider myself a fan of this Chinese brand. It offers amazing quality products for a more than reasonable price, and shipping is usually fast and efficient.

The review I posted about them featured a nice variety of products, from eyeshadows to foundations, but recently I bought something very new.

Recently, the brand launched their new Capsule lipsticks, and I was beyond excited to try them out!

Their packaging seemed more than interesting, and the velvet matte is a formula I normally am comfortable with; also, the red shades looked way too good for me to pass on!

So, did I enjoy these Lipsticks? Would I recommend them/buy more?

Let’s find out!

PACKAGING

Focallure Capsule Velvet Matte Lipstick ReviewI am going to be completely honest and say that the first thing that made me think ‘I need to have these lipsticks’ was their packaging.

THE AESTHETIC

The products come in a white, pink and red cardboard that may look minimalistic at first, but I find to be the perfect choice for the lipstick it’s holding.

The glossy ‘Capsule’ writing is embellished by cute heart designs, and pops perfectly against the white background; t. The pill drawings on the pink background look very cute, but the black writings with the general infos about the product get a bit lost.Focallure Capsule Velvet Matte Lipstick Review

THE SIZE

Overall, I find the size of the packaging to be perfect. It’s small enough to fit in your purse (or even your wallet!), and will look cute on your makeup station without taking up too much space.

Opening up the cardboard packaging, we can finally take the lipstick out and get a good look of it.

THE ACTUAL LIPSTICKS

If you thought the cardboard was small, wait until you see this item! The packaging is shaped like a pill, with a white cap and a base that resembles the color of the shade you picked out. Also, there is ‘Focallure’ written in white on the colored base.

This shape is very interesting and new, and overall very easy to handle; you won’t have any problems applying the lipstick or carrying it around, that’s for sure!

THE CLAIMS

These lipsticks hold a few claims, like being full-coverage and having a velvet matte finish that lasts all day – among other things. Since they seem to be so bold, let’s examine them more carefully.

Silky, Not Dry, Agglomerated, Non-Sticky Formula?

Absolutely; upon swiping them on your lips, you’ll immediately notice how creamy and comfortable this formulation is.

To be honest, I half expected the bullets to be dry and not to glide on the lips as smoothly; the matte element in a proper lipstick usually takes something away from the application, but it didn’t happen here. On the contrary, this formula is even smoother than some of my creamy lipsticks!

Highly Pigmented, Full Coverage?

Most definitely. You’ll only need a swipe to reach the perfect full-coverage effect, and that’s pretty impressive for an old-fashioned bullet lipstick!

This featured was another one that surprised me quite a bit. Usually, full coverage lipsticks will need a couple of swipes to reveal their true potential. This can be quite annoying, especially if you’re used to wearing liquid lipsticks! Thankfully, this is not the case here; when I say you only need one swipe, it’s because you really need only one swipe to have a perfectly bold color.

Comfortable Matte Finish?

This is where it gets a bit tricky. You see, the velvet matte finish ranges somewhat between a satin and a matte, something similar to the NYX Liquid Suedes – which I very much love; here, the finish is a velvet matte that seems a bit creamier and richer in consistency.

It’s absolutely a pleasure to wear, since it doesn’t dry out the lips, but it’s also fair to say that it isn’t a proper matte lipstick. However, it won’t bleed out if you wear it without a lip liner.

Color That Lasts All Day?

Maybe not 24 hours, but it does put up quite a fight! After testing it out for the first time, I noticed the formula started wearing off after 5 hours, after lasting through lunch and about 2 litres of water. All of this without touch-ups, might I add.

The Capsule Lipsticks formula is one of a lipstick in a bullet formula, not a liquid one. This means it probably won’t survive the entire day without touch-ups, will eventually become a bit dry and probably start wearing off. Despite this, I believe it to be quite impressive when it comes to longevity!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Here we are!

In conclusion, would I recommend the Capsule Lipsticks by Focallure? 100%!

I thought this formulation was a nice and refreshing change from all the general matte ones, with a spectacular performance compared to the drugstore price range.

There is a lot to love about this product, but make no mistake; there were a couple of downfalls as well!

THE PIGMENT

Firstly, this product’s pigmentation will literally blow you away.

This is one of those ‘one swipe and go’ kind of lipsticks, and it will perform amazingly right away; this pigmentation reminds me a lot of the Liquid Suede formula by NYX Cosmetics, actually. It’s truly mind-blowing, especially for a proper bullet lipstick!

Another detail you can’t really miss is how soft the bullet is. You wouldn’t exactly expect a lipstick this soft, especially for a somewhat matte formulation; however, this one is incredibly tender.

This softness makes the formulation more than comfortable to wear, with a great moisturizing power and a next-to-nothing feeling on the actual lips. The formula will eventually dry out throughout the day, but it’s fair to say it will last a little longer than the average bullet lipstick.

THE DOWNSIDES

Now, what did I not fully enjoy about the Capsule Lipsticks? The softness from before could be a starting point, actually.

The formula is soft, it’s true, but it’s definitely too soft; this means that the bullet will most certainly break with even the tiniest bit of excessive pressure. This is unbelievably annoying, because some times you just don’t have the time to slowly and carefully apply your lipstick – especially if you’re doing touch-ups.

Another detail I didn’t exactly fully like was the overall size of the product.

The lipsticks are fairly small, and the cardboard they come in is almost twice their size; this can make them perfect to carry around either for work or travel, but also quite prone to accidents. Moreover, you could easily lose them as well.

OVERALL

Besides these smaller inconveniences, I 100% recommend checking the Capsule Lipsticks out.

You most likely won’t find a better alternative for this price!
