I don’t know about you, but I do love Fall – and I am especially excited for it this year!
I don’t really know if it’s the feeling of coming out of a bit of a tough period and having a renewed feeling of hope, or simply because the weather is finally getting colder where I live. Either way, I am incredibly excited to live this season!
Fall fashion is one of my favorite elements to look forward to this year, so it’s only fair we celebrate it together with an actual Fall aesthetic wardrobe!
This chapter of The Fashion Journal is going to be slightly different compared to the previous ones. In fact, we’re going to have a total of 15 key items, instead of the usual 10.
So, are you ready to find out how to perfectly replicate Fall fashion in your daily life, and romanticize this season to the best of your ability?
Let’s get started!
It’s more than likely that we’re all pretty familiar with the general vibe of this aesthetic. However, let’s just do a quick introduction nevertheless!
The Fall (or Autumn) aesthetic is, as you probably would guess, a seasonal one, and one that became more and more popularized as the years went by – especially right now through socials like Pinterest, Instagram and TikTok. It focuses mostly on richer, morose colors and soft, comfortable clothes.
Naturally, this aesthetic also includes home decor and activities – however, for the sake of this blog post, we’re going to stick strictly to fashion.
Like we have briefly mentioned, Fall fashion is all about soft, comfortable, cozy clothes. This includes oversized sweaters, warm cardigans, flannels and anything of the sort.
However, don’t think for a minute that that’s all this style has to offer! In fact, tighter-fitting fabrics like leather and shinier fabrics like silk are more than welcome here.
Generally, something to keep in mind is that things have to feel comfy, warm and cozy, no matter what fabric you decide to use.
There’s quite a bit of room to play around with shapes and fits when it comes to Fall fashion, so be mindful of that when it comes to creating your outfits!
A pretty popular pairing that we have seen in the Academia world as well consists of a tighter bottom and a looser top. For example, an oversized sweater and a tight(er) skirt; this is one of the most recognizable pairings when it comes to Fall fashion!
One thing that’s also quite liked when it comes to this trend is fabric pairing – with the most striking one being wool and leather. There’s just something about a wool sweater undrneath a leather jacket that just scratches the right itch when it comes to Autumn fashion.
I usually divide this section in two smaller parts: one concerning actual shades and hues, and another that’s all about patterns and such.
Needless to say, the most popular pattern for this aesthetic is plaid. Plaid is pretty much everywhere when you’re looking for Fall outfits inspo, and has definitely become one of the most representative elements of this aesthetic.
It’s definitely not a pattern, but a chunkier knit is something that’s highly appreciated when it comes to representing Fall fashion. I feel like it’s because it gives off the vibe of something that’s organic, probably hand-made, quite soft and comfy.
When it comes to shades, the general idea is to have something that’s muted, toned-down, morose even.
Warmer tones like burgundy and brick are quite great to include, as well as navy and, most of all, deeper greens. Black and white are great neutrals to pick, as are cream, beige and rich browns.
We have already touched on the possible colors and hues you can include in your Fall aesthetic closet, but I decided to keep it fairly simple for this selection.
Remember that this is just an idea, a place for you to start: make sure to pick whatever you personally feel comfortable wearing!
♡ Thank you so much for reading! I hope we kept each other company for a while. Have a wonderful day! ♡
