I know I have already posted a similar article a little while back (check out how to glow up overnight here), but I thought about giving it a second shot.
This post is going to feature a lot of ‘quick-fix’ solutions, but it’s going to be the best guide on how to make impactful changes in just a couple of days; on the other hand, this post is going to offer more solutions for your body as well, rather than just hair and face.
So, are you ready to find out how to glow up over the weekend?
Let’s get started!
This tip was present in my Glow Up Overnight post as well, and to be honest is one of those practices that never gets old.
Trimming your split ends is going to ensure not only a faster growth, but a much healthier one as well; also, split ends are pretty annoying to look at as it is!
You can do this while watching a movie or a show you like, but make sure to be super careful and not cut yourself!
Before washing your hair, a hair mask is a good way to make it look and feel a lot better than your regular shampoo and conditioner routine would; also, you don’t even need that many ingredients to craft one up your self!
If you have a store-bought one at home, that’s great; on the other hand, there are a couple of recipes I like to indulge in for the perfect hair mask. This one is my absolute favorite, since it keeps my hair cleaner for longer and is a valuable help against dandruff; however, if you don’t want to get too crazy with the ingredients, a simple mixture of 2 Tablespoons of Aloe Vera gel and 1 teaspoon of honey will do just fine (or aloe vera by itself).
You can leave the mask on for 15 or 30 minutes, then proceed with your regular shampoo routine. Make sure to rinse it off well!
Your regular shampoo and conditioner routine is more than enough, don’t get me wrong, but I like to keep some spray shampoo on hand for emergencies. Also, I always use it before bed.
Spraying the solution on your hair before sleep is going to make it shine even more, and the formula will be better absorbed while you roll around in your sleep; also, it will promote a healthier growth and make your hair even cleaner than before!
In the name of a healthier and faster hair growth, it would certainly be a good idea to choose more protective hairstyles; they’re super easy to do, and will help you shield your hair against possible breakages or damages in general. An easy one to try? Simple braids!
Moreover, if you want to speed up the growing process a tiny bit more, you will want to keep your hair moisturized. I am by no means talking about having it soaking wet and walking around without a care in the world, mind you; a simple water-based spray will do the trick just fine.
For a super simple recipe, you can check out this coconut water spray.
It might sound weird coming from a makeup lover like me, but this is actually something that might have quite the impact on your skin; if you don’t wear makeup, feel free to skip to the next step altogether.
The weekend is the perfect time to let your skin rest and breathe, and stop wearing makeup for a couple of days is just the perfect detox solution; your skin will eventually thank you, trust me.
Since you’re at home, you could apply the serum two times throughout the day, once at morning and once before going to sleep; it would certainly be great if you had an old mascara wand to clean up and use, to guarantee a better and more efficient coverage.
Building a complete, high-impact skincare routine over the weekend is a bit of an extreme practice, mainly because you’re going to layer so many new formulations on top of each other.
To have a somewhat complete yet simple routine, I would advise you to go for a simple tonic solution like rose water, a serum (I usually go for Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% by The Ordinary) and, lastly, a moisturizer.
You can totally skip the serum if you don’t have it at home, but I would recommend to never skip moisturizing; also, you can use a carrier oil for a heavier hydration if you have dry skin (click here for a complete guide on carrier oils to pick the best one for you!).
When it comes down to face masks, there are many ways to go; for store-bought solutions, I would recommend clay-based ones.
In case you are dealing with super annoying pimples, spot treatment is the way to go; the best ingredient to do so is Tea Tree Essential Oil.
I would suggest you to pick the smallest amount possible to use, and gently pat it on the pimples; also, don’t pop your pimples!
Exfoliating and moisturizing your lips is going to make major changes in the way they look and feel, even if you do it just once.
You can make your own plumping lip scrub following this recipe, but the real key here is to moisturize.
Remember to drench your lips in balm before going to sleep, and they will totally glow up overnight!
For the ultimate glow up when it comes to your face, you want to get rid of the excess hair everywhere you can reach; that includes brows, moustache, and everything in between.
Remember to proceed with maximum caution to avoid irritations and cuts, and keep a cream on hand for later.
I know you’re probably already doing it, but it was also something worth mentiong; moreover, you could brush them everytime you eat something at home.
Brushing for a couple of minutes is a rather quick practice altogether, and is essential for your mouth’s health; also, it helps exfoliate your lips as well!
After that, try implementing a mouthwash at the end; if you don’t have one, you can always use melted coconut oil.
This is a bit of a heavy practice, and I would recommend limit its usage to once or twice a week. It’s not exactly an essential part of the glow up routine, but it’s a nice one to make your teeth whiter more quickly.
Simply mix a tiny bit of baking soda with your toothpaste, and brush your teeth for a couple of minutes; lastly, rinse with your mouthwash.
This tip is actually my favorite when it comes to health, and it was my doctor who suggested it to me; there surely is a zero calorie sweetener at your local store, and it won’t break the bank!
I am using liquid ones, but feel free to pick whichever format you prefer; just take a look at the calorie count before purchasing.
Drinking water is one of the most important things to do throughout your day, and it will greatly impact not only the way you look, but your health in general.
You should drink 2 liters of water per day, which equals to almost 68 Oz. roughly (almost 9 cups); however, to spice things up, you could add some fruits or herbs to it!
Also, you could make some lemon water in the morning; that will act as detox, and give you a boost to start off your day right!
The smallest changes can make a big difference, even in such little time!
Throughout the weekend, try to avoid fast foods, dairy, alcoholic beverages and super fatty foods; then, follow the healthiest diet possible. This includes a whole lot of fruits, vegetables and white lean meat – like chicken, turkey and fish, for example.
This does not mean you should starve yourself, just make a few healthier choices; also, while snacking, try to pick zero-calorie foods like apples, bananas and greek yogurt.
This is the funniest way to complete a workout without having to leave your home; also, it won’t cost anything!
I would recommend to pick cardio sessions for a quick fix; also, moderate the usage of those if you have not indulged in workouts recently. In fact, even something light between 20-30 minutes long is absolutely perfect.
A fairly obvious step, and one that can make an immediate difference in your skin’s texture; also, you don’t really need too many ingredients to have high quality results!
You want to exfoliate before shaving, so you’ll efficiently eliminate all the dead skin cells before moisturizing.
Whilst shaving, try to proceed with the maximum caution to avoid irritations and cuts; also, try to use a new razor that has 4 or 5 blades for a more efficient experience.
Moreover, you should never skip the moisturizing part, and use somewhat of a heavy moisturizer; ou could also use a oil, for a better hydration altogether!
Lastly, to complete your glow up, have a good, old-fashioned manicure/pedicure.
This final step does not have to include any nail art or color at all; in fact, it’s just a little something to make you feel put together and enhance your nails’ health.
The quickest mani/pedi possible includes soaking your hands/feet for 5 minutes; then, push the cuticles back and apply a coat of clear nail polish. Also, you could cut and file your nails before it.
