This is the very first time I am bringing jewelry on my blog, and I am beyond excited to discuss this topic with you!
My jewelry style has changed so much through the years, and I feel like I am not at a definitive point even right now. I have found that I personally prefer gold over silver, but even that detail has been mutable for me. It depends on the day, ya know?
I wanted to kick off this new area of my blog with something that everybody can benefit from: a small jewelry guide!
These It Girl Jewelry Essentials are among the most versatile pieces you can own, and a great starting point to kick off your jewelry collection.
Are you ready to find out what they are?
Let’s get started!
Before we jump-start this collection, I just wanted to address a couple of things – namely, the gold or silver dilemma and more design-wise choices.
Like I mentioned before, I am more of a gold person myself, so I often gravitate towards gold jewelry – but that doesn’t mean that gold is the supreme choice! If you enjoy wearing silver more, just do it – on the other hand, if you wear both, do that. It’s your collection!
When it comes to designs, please remember that the ones I picked for this post are a mere indication. Just go for whatever you like and think you would enjoy wearing.
Is there a more classic way to start off this collection of It Girl Jewelry Essentials? I don’t think so!
A pearl necklace is the quintessential jewelry piece when it comes to classic fashion, and it’s always a good idea to have one. It’s such an iconic piece, you might already have one, or could borrow it from a family member – you could even find one in a second-hand shop if you really wanted to own it for yourself!
If you enjoy wearing jewelry on a day-to-day basis, a dainty necklace is an investment that’s definitely worth it!
Usually coming with very minimal designs (the most popular ones being initials), a dainty necklace is perfect for both formal and casual attire, and even more elegant outfits. They can come with super cute designs as well, you don’t really have to stick to initials!
The best part about it? They usually retail for quite cheap prices!
This is the last necklace of this collection, and a fairly popular choice when it comes to jewelry.
The thing about chains is that they can be chunky or more dainty – and the ones you pick is really up to you. Personally, I would recommend starting out with a thinner one if you’re not really used to statement necklaces or chunkier jewelry in general.
Just like with the chain necklace, this type of bracelet can come in a million different styles and formats.
You can pick something that resembles the chain necklace you picked before, so you can make a little set out of it. Alternatively, you can pick something that’s completely different to create and interesting contrast.
Just like the dainty necklace, a tennis bracelet is a great everyday choice.
It’s a pretty simple design to wear with any outfit, and one that is sure to become a staple in your jewelry rotation.
Statement bracelets come in a million different designs, and they’re the perfect pick if you want to spice up your outfit when you’re going out.
Probably even more than with dainty designs, you’re going to find these at thrift stores easily.
If you’re a fan of minimalist fashion, you should definitely invest in a dainty ring!
Usually small bands with no intricate designs, dainty rings are a great everyday jewelry choice. Just make sure not to forget them in a random gas station in Switzerland if you go wash your hands (if you picked up mine, I hope you’re enjoying them).
Bulky, shiny, colorful: statement rings are all of this, and possibly some more.
Again, if you ended up finding a silver ring with an elefant on it in a random gas station in Switzerland, I hope you’re having the best time with it.
Whether you go for studs or pendants, pearl earrings are another classic jewelry piece that you need to have laying around.
Again, they’re so iconic that you can find them anywhere (and they’re usually quite cheap).
Yes, you guessed it – another classic for your jewelry collection.
Studs can come in silver or gold tones, and can have a shiny Zirconia stone. They can retail for quite cheap, too!
As I am writing this, I am a few days shy from going to the piercer and getting a second piercing on my ears, so you can imagine how excited I am. And I am already browsing online for cute, statement earrings to buy!
I have quite a lot of big statement pieces in my earrings collection, and it’s one of the jewelry pieces I enjoy investing in the most.
Whether you like studs, hoops or even smaller statement earrings, having a pair of everyday earrings you can rely on it’s always nice.
Personally, I always go back to the small heart studs I got when I was a kid and got my ear pierced for the second time (the first ones ended up closing up).
