I have brought a few lists of favorite products on the blog, but this is a brand new one!
As you may or may not know, I am a big fan of the British makeup brand Revolution.
I have collected many of their items over time, and I can say it’s definitely one of my favorite brands. Also, they’re a pretty legit Skincare name!
Recently I realized that I have not only bought many of their eyeshadow palettes, but highlighters as well.
Highlighting is one of my favorite steps in my routine, and I never skip it!
I have quite a few highlighters in my collection, and have played with many different formulas; in fact, this top 10 will include a total of 3 different ones!
So, are you ready to find out which Makeup Revolution highlighters have made the cut?
Let’s get started!
‘Unicorn Elixir‘ was among the very first liquid highlighters launched by the brand, and immediately a fan favorite. The color has blue, light gold and pink reflexes, and an almost transparent base.
I decided to give this product the 10th place because I find it to be a little too glitter-y for my personal taste. Let me elaborate a little bit on that.
Once layed down on the skin, the glitter particles become even more visible, especially when dried. This could easily create an incosistent look if the formula isn’t properly blended out.
Apart from this, I still think it’s one of the funniest and cutest highlighters I own!
This highlighter’s formula is quite similar to the previous one, but thankfully it’s not the exact same. Also, it was a more recent addition to the liquid selection.
I decided to place it so high in the top 10 because, even though its formulation is a bit more cohesive, it still tends to show a bit more glitter particles than you probably would like. The gold base is very much visible, and has even a bit of a metallic look to it. The particles are light gold, and become quite visible once blended out.
Despite this, I still think the formula is somewhat consistent, and I really like how it looks at the end of the day.
This product is one of Revolution’s OG highlighters, even if the formula isn’t exactly a regular and basic one. To be quite honest, I haven’t really seen that many balm highlighters around.
This formulation comes in another shade, ‘Euphoria‘, which I find to be crumbly and not as cohesive and consistent as this one. Also, it’s not as shiny and reflective.
Being a balm, you should probably note that once layed down this shade will never dry down completely. It stays put and shiny all day long, but it’s also still balm-y and a bit wet. Despite this, it is still easily movable and blendable.
I decided to give it this spot because, to be quite honest, it didn’t really steal my heart. It works efficiently and looks nice on the skin, but it’s not something that makes go crazy over it. Still, if you want to give it a shot, I think it’s great!
With a formulation that is almost the exact same one of ‘Liquid Euphoric Gold’, this liquid highlighter earns the seventh place by bringing a more cohesive look to the table – or, rather, on the skin.
This items is a bit more metallic and reflective than its golden version from before, and its glitter particles almost perfectly resemble a powder highlighter. The formula looks perfectly even on the skin, with the pink and pale white reflexes embellishing the overall feel.
I decided to give it this place because, once again, I would rather the formula be slightly more metallic and not as glitter-y. However, I would still recommend it!
Not to be confused with the Ultra Strobe Balm, this powder highlighter has very cute swirl-y designs on top of it and a very reflective and bright formula. Mine came broken, so I apologize for its messy texture!
The great thing about this lilac highlighter is how nice and pigmented it is. You really need a small amount for it to show up properly, and will leave you with a nice and glowy-looking skin. Its biggest downfall, in my opinion, is that the lilac element gets completely lost in the blending.
In fact, this color turns completely into a frosty silver one, with bright particles remaining visible throughout the blending process. It has a beautifully creamy and pigmented formula, but it does not stay true to what it looks like in the pan.
Other than this, it’s a pretty good highlighter – if you want a silver/metallic one!
This is not only the last liquid formulation we will encounter in this top 10, but also my personal favorite! Not only is the most pigmented one, but the most metallic and reflective one as well.
This golden champagne color is a perfect example of what ‘metallic’ means in the makeup world. Even blended out, this shade doesn’t loose any strength! Moreover, the formulation stays consistent and doesn’t leave any bald spots behid, spreading effortelessly on the skin.
I decided to place it in the middle because it’s not something I use everyday, but more of a summertime staple. Sure, I apply it at times to have a stronger and bolder look, but not as often as the ones that reached the top 4. If you’re looking for a decent dupe of the Cover FX ones, try this one out!
Part of last year’s Halloween collection, this highlighter is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to powders. It has unforgettable neon green/gold reflexes, and an amazing and almost unexpected pigmentation.
The formula feels a little bit dry upon touch, but I promise it’s one of the most pigmented ones the brand has to offer. Also, it blends out effortelessly and seamlessly. One other feature you may appreciate is the engraved skull, which is perfect for Halloween!
This highlighter deserves the fourth place because I use it quite frequently, and it’s kind of hard to find a flaw in it. If you’re into green-ish/golden hues, I definitely recommend it.
Spoiler alert: from here, the Skin Kiss formula will take over this top 10!
We find this light blue-ish shade on the third step of the podium not because of its formula, but rather its color. I am absolutely in love with the creamy formula of the Skin Kisses, but I also have to recognize that this light blue with lilac reflexes isn’t exactly an everyday choice for everyone!
Compared to the others, this formulation seems to be a little bit dry and powder-y, even though it’s really the smallest of ‘inconveniences’, to put it tragically. The pigmentation is ok, although it shines brighter in the other two options I am about to present.
If a light blue highlighter is something that’s missing from your life, you may want to consider this one!
I had seen it multiple times on the Revolution Beauty website, but somehow I always thought it was going to be too gold, too warm, too dark. Unexpectedly, I received it into a Mystery Bag. Turns out, it wasn’t too dark after all!
This color is the perfect choice if you’re going for a warm look, and can easily be used in every season. Its warm undertone makes it even more suitable for light to medium skintones, and its reflexes are way too beautiful to be ignored.
It deserves the #2 spot because I use it almost everyday, and I never seem to grow tired of how buttery, pigmented and blendable it is!
I decided to give the #1 to an item that is both fun and creative, but can also serve as an everyday solution for people who just love to implement a little glow in their lives.
Dream Kiss was the first colorful highlighter I ever bought, and I have never regretted it. It features a total of 5 different shades to play with, plus a completely new one if you decide to swirl your brush into all of them. You don’t have to be afraid experimenting: the shades mix together only on your brush, but they stay separate in the pan.
The formula is nice, although a little bit powder-y. You can still detect its creaminess, but it’s also worth mentioning that it’s not the creamiest highlighter out there. Despite this, its reflexes stay consistent and strong through application and blending.
