Hey, pretty people!
A little while ago I was cleaning up my makeup space, and browsing through my palettes. I not only realized I have way too many of them, which is a shame since I just purchased another one, but I also seem to have a specific type of palette I prefer.
One thing I sure appreciate in a palette is variety. I want to be able to use all year long (or a very long while), and I want to create new and interesting combos everytime I pick it up.
Sure, I also have ‘themed’ palettes that only feature a specific color range, but for today I won’t focus on them.
So, what are my top 10 half warm, half cool eyeshadow palettes?
Let’s find out!
10. BRETMAN ROCK X COLOURPOP – Wet
I bought this item along with its complementary palette ‘Lit’ (review here!), and I can honestly say it’s one of the best buys of my life!
The product is farly small, which is great when it comes to travelling, and does not feature a mirror. Also, even if the glitters are gorgeous, they have the tendency to get everywhere.
Formulation-wise, I can’t really complain much about this palette. The shades are pigmented and blendable, and I enjoy the good balance between mattes and shimmers. One thing I did not fully appreciate about it is the lack of a proper matte black.
I decided to give it the #10 place only because it’s not a ‘true’ half and half, but you only get two warmer tones.
9. I HEART REVOLUTION – Chocolate Violet
The Chocolate Violet palette has been sitting on my shelves for quite a while now, and I must say I am very excited to whip it out once again this fall!
The product features the usual melting chocolate bar design I have grown to love, and a nice quality mirror as well. Overall, the balance between mattes and shimmers and cool and warm tones works quite nicely, which is why it deserve this position.
It has a few interesting transitions for a good amount of complexions, but lacks a matte black. I would have easily gone without ‘Cultivate‘ and ‘Revive‘ and substitute them with a gold and a black, but that’s just my opinion.
All in all, it’s still a great performing product!
8. REVOLUTION – Forever Flawless Optimum
One of the most recent additions to Makeup Revolution’s collection, this eyeshadow palette has all the warmth and the coolness you need and deserve.
It has a unique metal packaging with rock designs on it, and a full-size mirror to complete your entire routine with.
The color selections gives off major ABH’s ‘Subculture‘ vibes, adding a few interesting options like rusty shimmers and an essential matte black (take a shot everytime you read matte black). Also, you get a few transitions for deeper skintones.
I personally love this palette, and once again cannot wait ’till fall so I can start using it more!
7. REVOLUTION X BRITISHBEAUTYBLOGGER – Fortune Favours The Brave
This palette was among the very first ones I tried from Revolution, and after all this time I would still buy it again!
It comes in a frosted golden packaging with a cool glossy design on it, complete with a full-size mirror (which I loved) and a double-sided brush (which I didn’t love as much).
It features a total of 30 shades, spacing between warmer and cooler and offering a nice balance between mattes and shimmers. I would have loved to see more transitions for deeper skintones, but I have to acknowledge the presence of a matte black.
6. REVOLUTION – Red Velvet
The influence of Jeffree Star’s ‘Blood Sugar’ palette is fairly evident here; however, with the exception of ‘Beetroot’, these are all pretty wearable shades.
Being part of the Chocolate series, this product also has the iconic melting chocolate bar design and a nicely sized mirror has its most captivating features.
The color selection seems to be dominated by various nuances of pink and red, with a good amount of transitions for deeper complexion. One thing that would have made it even better would have been the addition of, you guessed it, a matte black.
5. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – Norvina
I really enjoy using this palette, especially in the summer period. The color combination is fairly bright and colorful, but could also work for other seasons as well.
The iconic ABH felt packaging feels very good, but does get dirty quite easily – especially if you travel a lot. On the other hand, this product features a mirror and a double-sided brush as well.
The color selections has quite a few transitions for deeper skintones, but lacks a proper outer corner shade for deeper complexions. Despite this, however, it’s still a pretty amazing palette!
4. COLOURPOP – Mar
The aspect I most appreciate about this palette is how versatile it is, despite featuring only two color families – blue and orange/brown.
The packaging is very simple yet polished, with cute designs and a full-size mirror. Also, it’s a very practical overall size.
I would have substituted ‘Boozy’ for a matte orange, and ‘Top Down’ for a matte black. Other than this, I find this palette to be of amazing quality!
3. REVOLUTION – Re-Loaded Iconic Division
This not-so-subtle ABH’s ‘Subculture’ dupe (more infos here) may present a pretty basic and cheap packaging, and yet is one of the best half and half palettes in my collection!
Just with a quick look, this palette has it all; transitions for a good amount of complexions, and a matte black. The selection features two proper shimmers and a hybrid between a satin and shimmer shade, a white/pink duo-chrome.
For 7$, I definitely would purchase it again and again!
2. I HEART REVOLUTION – Peanut Butter Cup
I love this palette so, so much! It doesn’t look like anything spectacular from the outside, but I find this to be the perfect selection for all 4 seasons.
The usual melting chocolate bar aesthetic is furtherly embellished by the colors, that look sinfully delicious, and the full-size mirror.
I would have loved a few more transitions for deeper skintones, but at least we get a wonderful matte black. Overall, I would definitely buy it again!
1. ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS – Prism
I gave this palette the #1 spot since I think it’s one of the most complete and versatile – especially out of all the palettes we’ve seen so far!
We have the iconic felt packaging once again; this time is furtherly embellished by a gold prismatic (duh) design that perfectly pops against the black background. The product also features a mirror and a practical double-sided brush.
The color selection spaces out from cool to warmer tones, allowing a few interesting pops of color to make an appearance. There are a few transitions for deeper complexions, as well as a matte black. Also, the balance between mattes and shimmers is perfect.
