Revolution Skincare Pink Clay Detoxifying Face Mask Review

Like I promised in my Beauty Bay haul, I am starting to post the review of the products I purchased. I have been testing this face mask for a hot minute now, and I am very excited to share my results!
I have to be completely honest: I know I said I had high hopes for this one, but not really. The truth is I didn’t really think it would help me target my blemishes – or do anything significant, for that matter. It sounds super bad, I know, but it’s true; it seemed pretty on the Revolution website, but I severly doubted it was going to make a tangible impact.

PACKAGING
Even if this product comes from a drugstore brand, I must say this packaging looks quite elegant and put-together, in my opinion.
The mask comes in a white cardboard with pink, black and rose gold writings. This color combination works perfectly to give the product that extra ‘umph’ and make it look a bit more luxurious.
I also appreciate how the name of the brand is embedded into the cardboard; the pink clay powder design is a nice addition as well.
You will find the ingredient list, directions and disclaimers on the four sides of the square, and they don’t take anything away from the aesthetics of the product.
Opening up the cardboard, we finally get to see the mask. The product comes in your classic moisturizer container, with a white cap and frosted sticker on the clear hard plastic.
It feels quite heavy and fits perfectly in your hand, making it a good solution for travelling or carrying around.
The formula comes with a protective white plastic on top that prevents it from spilling around; this makes application a tad bit easier, should you find some product on it.
Overall, I must say I am a big fan of this packaging! Its designs make it look like a super fancy product, and if I did not know the brand I would be surprised to find out it’s not available in stores like Sephora!
FORMULA AND APPLICATION
Now that we’ve got aesthetics out of the way, it’s time to focus on the most important part: how does this product actually perform? What is this formulation like?
For starters, I must say that this formulation has a distinct yet soft smell. If you’re into fragrances in skincare you’ll most likely love it, since it reminds of fresh roses with particular fresh and sweet notes to it. On the other hand, if you don’t really care or fancy such fragrances this mask won’t be your cup of tea. Regardless, the smell goes away whilst applying the product.
The color reminds me of a warm dusty pink, but it applies quite sheer at first. Once the formula has dried down completely, the actual pink shade comes out.
The Pink Clay mask glides on the face quite easily – both with hands and brush – and has somewhat of a refreshing gel consistency. Trust me: once you have covered the desired area, you’re good to go.
Another great detail is the fact that it washes off quite easily, basically melting away without leaving any residue on the skin.
PERFORMANCE
I would like to start this section off with an advice: this mask works great on its own, but try opening up your pores before using it. It may not seem like much, but you’ll be able to see the difference right away! A quick way to do so is to apply the product right after a shower. Pat your face dry and then apply the mask.
Once you have applied the product, you’ll be seriously aware of the fact that this formula dries down completely. And I mean completely. Also, it does that pretty quickly. It’s the perfect excuse to avoid talking to people you don’t like, ’cause let me tell you this mask won’t let you move your face muscles easily!
Whenever my pimples are bigger and more evident, I can actually feel the formula working on them. It’s not an overwhealming and annoying feeling, more like a light tingle sensation. You will also feel it dry down, so be prepared for it!
AFTER USE
Once you have rinsed this Pink Clay mask off, you will be able to see the slightest difference in your complexion.
Personally, right off the bat I saw that the most prominent blemishes on my cheeks were dried out and seemed to have faded a little bit. Also, a couple of blackheads on my nose disappeared.
Another positive change I saw right after the first use was the improvement in texture. My face felt and looked a lot smoother, and its texture seemed to be almost completely removed. This is also the biggest and most evident result I was able to get!
If I had to pick a flaw, I would have to say that I wasn’t a big fan of how dry my skin felt afterwards. I have combination to oily skin, but in this period I have been struggling quite a bit with some dryness. The best advice I could give you is to keep your favorite moisturizer at hand, or even do a moisturizing face mask. I tried doing the Honey & Oatmeal one from Revolution right after, and I have to admit that I am a big fan of this combo!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Here we are at last. All in all, would I recommend the Pink Clay Detoxifying face mask by Revolution Skincare? Without question!
I have been loving the results so far, and I am sure that a constant application will be helping me a great deal with breakouts, blemishes and texture.
Like I mentioned at the beggining, this formula did not really convince me 100%. I genuinely thought it would be something designed to look pretty on bathroom shelves, and found the claims to be way too bold for this type of product. Boy, was I wrong!
I think of this mask as the perfect addition to your anti-acne skincare routine. It will be a softer and more gentle remedy, and will pair up wonderfully with stronger solutions (like Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% serum or Azelaic Acid) without being too aggressive.
Another point in its favour is the quantity-quality-price ratio. You do get a fair amount of product for its quantity, and I personally find the quality to be quite good for a drugstore skincare brand.
