We’re slowly inching our way to the finish line of this Eras Tour outfits inspo, and today we’ll examine one of the most iconic eras we have ever come about: 1989!
As I’m writing this article, Taylor hasn’t released her re-recorded version of the album, but you can listen to its original version here. She has, however, announced that 1989 Taylor’s Version will be releasing this October!

THE ALBUM
1989, Taylor Swift’s fifth album, came out in 2014 – almost 10 years ago. This might not mean a lot to you but it certainly does to me, I was in HIGH SCHOOL. I was 16 years old!
A total of 7 singles came out of the record: Shake It Off, Blank Space, Style, Bad Blood, Wildest Dreams, Out Of The Woods and New Romantics.
I still remember the distinctive feeling I felt when I listened to Style for the first time, and I still think it’s one of the most beautiful songs Taylor has ever made.

THE AESTHETIC
The very first song of the album is ‘Welcome To New York’, and that’s where a big chunk of the aesthetic of the record originates.
The city of New York has certainly always been a great inspiration for Taylor, and it translates into a lot of sparkle in the fashion aspect of this aesthetic.
In addition to that, a sort of marine element makes its way through. A perfect example of an outfit would be what Audrey Hepburn wore on the boat date with Humphrey Bogart in ‘Sabrina‘.
If you haven’t seen that movie, please do! As a matter of fact, I do believe that movie is a great representation of this album. The 1995 remake with Harrison Ford is amazing as well!
THE COLORS
Generally, blue is great choice when it comes to 1989 – more in its powdery, pastel tone. On the other hand, there’s also quite a bit of darker versions of that hue as well!
Another great color choice is white, and all of the glitter-y and sparkly tones you can find of both these shades.
