Folklore is my best friend’s favorite album, and she was super excited for this post – I hope you’ll be as well!
We’ll actually attend the Eras Tour together next Summer. After seeing all of the TikToks about it, I’d have to agree – the only ‘bad’ seat at that concert is the one next to someone who’s favorite record is Folklore.
Although it’s not my absolute favorite album, I have to say it definitely has a special place in my heart!
Folklore gave us so many incredible songs, and a pretty unique sound when it comes to Taylor Swift.
So, are you ready to get inspired by Folklore’s aesthetic and these 10 outfit ideas?
Let’s get started!
Taylor Swift’s eighth album is quite different from its predecessor, Lover.
It has a much more mellow sound, with lots of ballads, indie folk and alternative rock elements. There’s lots of romance in this record, and the narratives are just top quality. Easily my favorites of her whole career.
Three singles came out of Folklore: Cardigan, Exile and Betty. The record won album of the year at the 63rd Grammys.
You can listen to it right here!
Although the general consensus is that Folklore’s aesthetic is fully cottagecore, I would like to give my two cents. Cottagecore definitely makes up a big chunk of this aesthetic, that’s for sure, but I would argue that there are some fairycore components sprinkled in.
There’s quite a bit of sparkle woven through these visuals, which is something that doesn’t really pair with cottagecore. However, I have to say it does work quite well here!
The cover is black and white, and coincidentally those would be the main shades to focus on – primarily white.
Although I have to say I find this cover art quite beautiful, I would also like to see an actual color version. I do believe it would complement the vibe of the songs masterfully!
In typical cottagecore fashion, green is a fit choice when it comes to assembling your Folklore aesthetic.
All shades of green are great choices of course, but a richer one will embody the fall-ish vibe the record has!
In my opinion, the best hues that truly capture Folklore’s aesthetic, vibe and spirit are black and white, beige and off-white, green and also navy.
I have talked about the importance of long, flowy dresses in my cottagecore aesthetic post, and I am once again here to reiterate their greatness.
A long flowy dress perfectly represents the essence of Folklore, especially when paired with a nice, warm cardigan (lol).
